How to Connect to Veeam Cloud Connect

To use your Virtual Systems cloud repository or replication resources, you'll need to connect your Veeam Backup & Replication server to Cloud Connect. This article explains the process of connecting to Virtual System's Veeam Cloud Connect service.

Prerequisites:

  • Have Veeam Backup & Replication installed. More information on downloading and installing Veeam Backup & Replication can be found in the Veeam Help Center.

Follow these steps to connect to Virtual System's Veeam Cloud Connect service:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication console and click Connect.
  2. In the bottom left navigation, click on Backup Infrastructure.
  3. In the Backup Infrastructure view, click on the Service Providers node.
  4. Click on Add Service Provider.
  5. In the Service Provider section of the wizard:
    • Enter the Server name provided from the Virtual Systems onboarding email into the DNS name or IP address field
    • Leave the Port field as 6180.
    • Optionally, enter a description into the Description field
    • Check Allow this Veeam Backup & Replication installation to be managed by the service provider checkbox. This allows Failover Plans to sync with the Veeam Service Provider Console and is required for the Veeam rental license type.
    • Click Next.
  6. In the Credentials section, click Add.
  7. In the Credentials window, enter the Username and Password provided from the Virtual Systems onboarding email. Click OK.
  8. Back in the Credentials section, click Apply.
  9. After the connection to the service provider is established, there are various sections depending on which products from Virtual Systems were purchased. You may have the following sections:
    1. Backup Storage - This is BaaS resources for backups to be stored offsite in a cloud backup repository
    2. Replica Resources - This is for DRaaS for replication which provides along with CPU and RAM resources to 
    3. Network Extension - This is a component of DRaaS which allows for basic networking to be connected to the replica VMs in the event of a disaster.
  10. If the Backup Storage section is shown, verify the correct backup resources are assigned and click Next.

  11. If the Replica Resources section is shown, verify the correct resources are assigned and click Next.
  12. If the Network Extension section is shown, specify the network onsite Network Extension Appliance settings by clicking Edit. Here you can configure the Network Extension appliance VM host, folder, network settings (VLAN and static IP address).  Once you have your desired configuration, click Apply.
  13. In the Apply section, click Next.
  14. In the Summary section, click Finish.

Now you'll be able to create your jobs targeting the cloud backup repository or replication resources provided by Virtual Systems.
