File Level Restore in Cloud Director

How to do a file level restore of VM data that is backed up.

  1. Log into the Cloud Director organization.
  2. Expand More > click on Data Protection with Veeam.
  3. Click on the Files tab.
  4. Click on the Pick from List... link.
  5. Select the VM that contains the files to be restored > click Select.
  6. The latest restore point will load. If you need an earlier restore point, click on the Calendar icon to browse to a different restore point. After selecting a directory, it will present the backed up directory structure to browse.
  7. Once you've found the item needing to be restore, select the item > click Restore.
  8. Choose the option that best describes what the desired outcome is:
    1. If you select Overwrite, the object from the backup will replace the original object on the target machine.
    2. If you select Keep, the object from the backup will be restored next to the original object on the target machine. The restored object will have the _RESTORED_<DATE>_<TIME> prefix in its name, where <DATE>_<TIME> is the restore date and time.
    3. [For Microsoft Windows] If you select Permissions Only, you will restore file (or folder) permissions that were granted to users and groups to access the object. You can restore permissions only if the object exists on the target machine.
  9. Click Yes if you desire to restore the item to the original location or permissions of the original item.
  10. The restore process starts and shows the status as Restore in progress.
  11. After the restore completes, verify it shows the status as Success.
